Political picnic gives candidates a chance to meet, greet in May Primary home stretch

Sunday, May 9, 2010, 2 a.m. - A beautiful, blustery Saturday afternoon was picnic-perfect weather for the 1320 WBRT's first political picnic at J. Dan Talbott Amphitheatre. Candidates for office -- including those who will be on the ballot in November -- took time to drop by the event and talk about their campaigns and their goals if elected to office.

Among the surprises at the picnic was word that outgoing Nelson County Clerk Phyllis Mattingly had endorsed the candidacy of Elaine Filiatreau to replace her as the next Nelson County Clerk. Filiatreau is one of three deputy county clerks who are running in the Democratic primary for that office.
