Nelson County Gazette
Friday, Jan. 8, 2010, 11 p.m. - In an effort to allow voters to better educate themselves prior to the May Primary and November General Election, the Nelson County Gazette has created "The Situation Room," a section of the web site devoted to election news, original reporting and information not found in other local media.
All Nelson County offices are up for election this year. Some races may be decided in the May primary; others will be decided in November. Click the name of the office listed below to open a page listing the candidates who have filed for that office.
If the link is not active, no one has filed for that particular office yet. Non-partisan races do not file for office until August. Candidates for county office who are registered as Independents bypass the May Primary and must file a statement of intent to run for a county office by April 1. Partisan candidates for county offices must file their paperwork with the county clerk's office by 4 p.m. Jan. 26th.
